A New Beginning
Growing up, I was taught that every child deserves a safe place to live, to dream, and to become whoever they choose to be. When I first encountered images of children living atop massive mountains of trash in 2024, my heart broke, but more than that, I felt an obligation to act.
"GALA: Beyond Waste" is not just a film about the most unimaginable poverty, where children live in deplorable conditions, it is a story of possibility, resilience, and the power to create lasting change."
My vision for the documentary is raw and intimate. I want the audience to walk inside these landfill communities, to sit with families, to feel their joys and fears firsthand. Through cinéma vérité style, personal interviews, and breathtaking imagery, we will journey from despair to hope, from waste to life.
This is a film about action. About what happens when we stop looking away and start building a better future together. Storytelling can change the world.
